Why an Endowment Fund?
Endowment funds are established so that a percentage of the donations made to the fund is awarded to a particular organization, every year for decades on end.
Over time, the money in the endowment funds are invested and can potentially grow to enable larger awards to be granted.
As a result, the JCC Camps at Medford will be able to provide annual scholarships in Rick's name, and help preserve his legacy for future generations, thus ensuring that more children can experience the joys of summer camp, who otherwise might not be able to do so.

About the Fund
Richard (Rick) B. Charny (of blessed memory) was a dedicated family man, attorney, and community leader. His passing created a major void in the lives of many and this void can't be understated.

Dear Friends,
It has been nearly four years since Rick’s passing and the void his death created continues to this day. The same can be said about our memories and how he touched the lives of even those who did not know him.
As in life, Rick’s ability to connect with people and help others is unparalleled; his commitment to community was second to none. Many of us remember Rick’s passion for the JCC Camps at Medford. From his initial days on the JCC Board of Directors and as Camp Chair, his efforts helped shape the JCC Camps at Medford to be one of the best Jewish day camps in the country!
To honor Rick’s legacy, the Richard B. Charny JCC Camp Endowment Fund was created in 2015. Since its founding, we have raised more than $50,000. This money has been used towards partial scholarships for families with health-related issues who need help sending their kids to camp. We are so grateful and say thank you to those who have joined us in providing financial assistance for these members of our community.
With the summer camp season on the horizon, we once again ask that you consider making a donation in Rick’s memory to his Endowment Fund. Your contribution will help to ensure that children, who would not otherwise be able to afford summer camp, will be able to attend and share in the beautiful experiences that summer camp can provide. Summer camp was Rick’s passion and providing children with this opportunity is a beautiful tribute to his memory.
