Since 2006, the JCF has managed the Charles A. & Ethyl Blumenfeld Memorial Endowment Fund, which was created to provide ongoing support of an annual field day held at the Katz JCC for students from Kellman Brown Academy and Politz Day School.
On June 6, with spring in the air, a total of approximately 40 3rd-grade students arrived from the two schools for an action-packed morning at the JCC for the 2025 Blumenfeld Field Day.
The children started the day with an icebreaker as a chance to get to know one another from each school, and then divided into smaller groups to play a variety of games including a water relay race, dodgeball, and crab soccer. They also had time to relax and socialize together after the sporting activities ended. To top it off, they each received a free, tie-dyed drawstring bag as a gift.
The weather was gorgeous, the spirits were high, and the smiles were contagious! It was a great way to celebrate the tail end of the school year.
Thank you to the Katz JCC for hosting and for Kellman Brown Academy and Politz Day School students and teachers for participating so enthusiastically.
Thank you also to the Blumenfeld family for making this day possible. As some background, the endowment fund that annually finances the field day was created by Ethyl Blumenfeld (of blessed memory) to memorialize her husband, Charles-- a.k.a. Charlie-- after his death in 2005. Ethyl's name was added to the fund following her death in 2014. Although their son, Alan, could not attend in person as he usually does, he was thrilled to hear that the field day was a success and looks forward to next year's festivities already!
