The Jewish Community Foundation, Inc. recently held its annual Scholarship Awards Reception. We distributed nearly $36,000 to 23 recipients from our community. What impact do financial and technology equipment scholarship awards from the JCF have on these recipients? Let’s hear directly from a few recent awardees:
“Thank you for presenting me with this truly impactful award. It will allow me to purchase a computer that fits my needs for a computer science education at one of the world’s leading institutions. It will greatly improve my college experience, and open doors for me that wouldn’t have been possible without your generous donation. This is an award I will remember each and every time I use my technology to make an impact on the world.” Jacob B. (2022)
“I would like to thank you sincerely for the scholarship I was awarded from you. Last month I graduated from the Rutgers University School of Nursing… .Nursing school was a rigorous journey through the unknown. The mental and physical exhaustion was endless. I feel supremely honored and humbled to have been awarded this scholarship. This means everything to me. I hope to receive my doctorate within the next few years and be able to give back to the JCF through a donation in order to help a student like me in need. This I promise you. May you continue to make changes in students’ lives as you have changed mine.” Rona M. (2018)
“I wanted to formally express my sincere gratitude to…the Jewish Community Foundation for awarding me the Patrice Fay Cohen Memorial Fund and the Leonard Jay Hirschfeld Endowment (awards). My family and I were so excited to learn I was selected for these honors. I strongly believe that as a recipient of these scholarships, it is my responsibility to positively reflect the mission of the Jewish Community Foundation. I am committed to my education and working towards a better world. During this time, more than ever, I have learned the true impact of small (and big) acts of kindness. I am presently pursuing joint degrees in Social Work and Law and your financial contribution has a direct impact on my ability to obtain my education. The JCF Board, staff, and, most importantly, our award donors, take utmost pride in our privilege to support local scholars each year. As the above testimonials explain, a financial award can enable recipients to reduce their educational expenses, afford new technology to advance their learning, and even serve as inspiration to want to pass on philanthropy to others who follow them.
