Support the New Camden Cemetery

Updated: Aug 25, 2021

One of the lesser-known charges of the JCF is to oversee the Jewish sections of the New Camden Cemetery, which is located at the corner of Ferry and Mt. Ephraim Avenues near the Ferry Ave. Patco station in Camden.

While the JCF staff manages the essential regular tasks, to ensure proper, ongoing upkeep of these Jewish sections, the JCF welcomes SNJ Jewish community members to serve on a committee that will assist with overseeing the sacred grounds.

If you have loved ones interred at New Camden Cemetery or even if you just have a passion for ensuring the continuity of this venerable site, please contact the JCF at 856-673-2528 to learn more about joining our committee as a volunteer or for any questions you may have.

This can be a rewarding way to serve the Jewish community you love, and we don't anticipate this being a time-intensive commitment on your part.

About the Jewish Sections of the New Camden Cemetery

As some background, Jewish burials at this cemetery date back to the 1890s, with additional burials still occurring.

In fact, the cemetery serves as the final resting place for many of the original founders of the Jewish Federation of Southern New Jersey, Jewish war veterans, and other community leaders.

The two Jewish sections are fenced in from the larger secular sections. The overall grounds are owned by the City of Camden.
