Tie Dye, Lemonade, & Fundraising for the Future

Tie Dye, Lemonade, & Fundraising for the Future

Earlier this year, the JCF collaborated with Jayne and Craig Bloom to create the Ravi Bloom Memorial Endowment Fund as a way to remember their beloved son, Ravi, who lost his life at age 17.

An active congregant at Congregation M'kor Shalom, which has since merged with Temple Emanuel to become Congregation Kol Ami, Ravi created an impactful legacy during his life.

The new endowment fund in his name was established to provide the annual Ravi Bloom Mensch Award to a student leader of Congregation Kol Ami who exemplifies the outstanding qualities that Ravi exhibited.

To support this unique fund as well as two other deserving causes-- the JCC Camps at Medford's Open Hearts/Open Doors program and ZZ Dance's Make a Wish NJ fundraiser-- a group of Kol Ami students recently banded together to host a fun fundraising opportunity. Sharing a recap and photos is Sarah Zalcmann:

"Cayla Zalcmann, Sadie Riviello, London Watson & Chloe Richman, all Congregation Kol Ami students, along with some of their friends, opened a tie dye/lemonade stand and raised money for three causes that were important to them, including the Ravi Bloom Memorial Endowment Fund at JCF. Due to the generosity of their customers and a lot of hard work, they were able to donate $360 to Ravi's fund. This fund was created by the Bloom family in memory of their beloved son to encourage synagogue teens to actively engage in synagogue life, as Ravi did with such passion and love. Thank you to this inspired and inspiring group of young leaders who took time to host this meaningful mitzvah project and provide tzedakah to deserving causes. Their contribution to Ravi's Fund, in particular, is notable in that their contribution will last for many generations, a wonderful tribute to a wonderful person. It's fundraising for the future at its best.
