JCF's Fiscal Year 2022-2023 in Review

JCF's Fiscal Year 2022-2023 in Review

Having wrapped up our most recent fiscal year on September 30, 2023, we wanted to share an overview of our achievements that are now in the books.

Overall, it was a successful and productive year, thanks by-and-large to our generous donors who enable us to help so many deserving causes through grant distributions from their funds.

Our One Page Year in Review provides 12 snapshots for the JCF's fiscal year 2022-2023, and here are a few highlights in more detail:

  1. $3.35 Million in Total Grants from all JCF Funds

The JCF manages hundreds endowment funds and donor advised funds. Each year, we process well over 1,000 grants from these funds, benefiting the causes that our donors choose.

This dollar amount represents a 12% increase from last year's total of $2.98 million that was granted, and is likely attributable to a rise in the stock market, which allows us to distribute more grant dollars, as well as strong usage of donor advised funds (see next bullet) for annual gifts.

2. $1.95 Million in Total Grants from JCF Donor Advised Funds

Donor advised funds (DAFs) managed by the JCF allow donors to contribute tax deductible dollars into their own, personal "charitable giving account," and then they have the ability to recommend grants to any nonprofit organizations or synagogues at any future time.

In the last fiscal year, JCF donors recommended 20% more grant dollars than in the previous fiscal year. These dollars help hundreds of charitable organizations, in fact over 350 nonprofits locally and across the country, Jewish and secular, received at least one check from the JCF via DAFs and endowment funds.

3. $1.82 Million in Total Grants to the Jewish Federation of Southern New Jersey and its Family of Agencies

As a supporting organization of the Federation, the JCF is here to assist in providing dollars for current and future efforts in the local Jewish community. Last fiscal year, our donors enabled us to provide an increased amount of 11% to support the Federation and its agencies.

As always, thank you all JCF donors for choosing the JCF for your charitable giving efforts, and enabling us to provide a substantial sum of funding to vital nonprofits near and far.
