JCF Celebrates Scholarship Awardees at Virtual Reception

One of the rewarding aspects of providing financial awards to local scholars is, in addition to supporting awardees' educational dreams, getting to "put a face to the name" of the awardees and their families.

This year, as outlined in our recent blog post, the 2022 JCF Scholarship Awards were given to 23 individuals totaling nearly $36,000.

To celebrate the achievements of these awardees, the JCF holds an annual Scholarship Awards Reception, where awardees and their families are able to meet the award donors along with JCF Board members and staff.

To mitigate any potential spread of covid-19, this year's event on Thursday, June 2nd took place via Zoom instead of having an outdoor reception as planned, since thunderstorms rolled through the area and "rained on" our proverbial parade.

But no matter, we had a great gathering nonetheless!

Between 30-40 individuals took part, with some not being able to attend due to it being a prom night for some local high schoolers.

The short-but-sweet event lasted about 35 minutes and was a great chance to celebrate an exciting achievement for our awardees.

We invite you to watch a recording of the event here. (Link directs you to JLink and does not require an account setup to watch.)

During the call, JCF President Robert Elias and JCF Scholarship Committee Chair Ed Rivkin teamed up to announce the awardees. Also, JCF Director David Snyder gave a brief overview of the JCF, and former JCF Scholarship Awardee Beth Katz served as guest speaker, sharing her experiences post-college graduation and encouraging this year's recipients to be agile and ready to embrace new opportunities during school and beyond.

Thank you to all who attended, and best of luck to all of our awardees on their future endeavors! We know you'll do great things!
